Paul Bowler Training needs to collect and use data for a variety of purposes about its staff, students and trainers. The purposes of processing data include the organisation and administration of courses, the recruitment and payment of staff and trainers and compliance with statutory obligations, etc.
This document outlines the Paul Bowler Training’s policy to help ensure that it complies with the Data Protection Act .
Data Protection:
Data Protection is the safeguarding of the privacy rights of living individuals in relation to the processing of personal data, in both paper and electronic format. The Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (the “Data Protection Acts”) lay down strict rules about the way in which personal data and sensitive personal data are collected, accessed, used and disclosed. The Data Protection Acts also permit individuals to access their personal data on request, and confer on individuals the right to have their personal data amended if found to be incorrect.
Data Protection Officer:
The Data Protection Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and implementation of this policy on behalf of the Directors.

Data Protection Policy:
This policy is a statement of Paul Bowler’s commitment to protect the rights and privacy of living individuals in accordance with the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018.
This Data Protection Policy has been approved and any breach will be taken seriously and may result in formal action.
Paul Bowler Training collects and uses personal data only for the following purposes:
- Registration of students with accrediting and examination bodies
- Registration of Employees and Trainers with Revenue and similar State Agencies.
- Inclusion of Trainers’ details as part of training proposal to PAUL BOWLER TRAINING’s clients
- Internal administration
Data Protection Principles:
PAUL BOWLER TRAINING shall perform its responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts in accordance with the following eight Data Protection principles:
1. Obtain and process information fairly
We shall obtain and process personal data fairly and in accordance with statutory and other legal obligations.
2. Keep it only for one or more specified, explicit and lawful purposes
We shall keep personal data for purposes that are specific, lawful and clearly stated.
3. Use and disclose only in ways compatible with these purposes
We shall use and disclose personal data only in circumstances that are necessary for the purposes for which we collected the data.
4. Keep it safe and secure
We shall take appropriate security measures against unauthorised access to, or alteration, disclosure or destruction of personal data and against its accidental loss or destruction.
5. Keep it accurate, complete and up-to-date
We adopt procedures that ensure high levels of data accuracy, completeness and that data is up-to-date.
6. Ensure it is adequate, relevant and not excessive
We shall only hold personal data to the extent that it is adequate, relevant and not excessive.
7. Retain for no longer than is necessary
We shall retain all data only for as long as is necessary or to a maximum of seven years for students or longer for Trainers or Employees if they are still in our employ.
8. Give a copy of his/ her personal data to that individual, on request
Data subjects can exercise their rights under the Data Protection legislation to access their data.
Responsibility:
Overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with Data Protection Acts rests with the Directors of the PAUL BOWLER TRAINING.
All Employees and Contracted Trainers of the PAUL BOWLER TRAINING who separately collect, control or process the content and use of personal data are individually responsible for compliance with the Data Protection Acts. All staff are responsible for ensuring that information is not kept for longer than necessary.
Right to Access Information:
Employees and other subjects of personal data held by the PAUL BOWLER TRAINING have the right to access any personal data that is being kept about them on computer and also have access to paper-based data held in certain manual filing systems.
Any person who wishes to exercise this right should make the request in writing to the Data Protection Officer.
If personal details are inaccurate, they will be amended upon request.
