Assessment Appeal & Repeat Policy

APPEAL POLICY:
All learners have the right to appeal their results or the assessment process.

The appeal must be in writing to Paul Bowler Training, outlining the grounds on which the appeal is being lodged, and must be made within 14 days of issue of the results.

Only approved results can be appealed.

Only evidence that has previously been presented by the candidate can be part of the appeal.

APPEAL PROCESS:
Upon receipt of a written appeal, the relevant Trainer/Internal Assessor will be informed that an appeal has been lodged.

The learner’s assessment will be referred to an Independent Trainer/Assessor for second marking where appropriate. Some internal review/re-marking may be required, e.g., skill demonstration, etc.

The results of the appeal process will be forwarded to the learner within eight weeks.

The results of the appeal process will be forwarded to the relevant Trainer/Internal Assessor.

The learner’s revised results will be submitted to the accrediting body for certification.

Pending the outcome of an appeal, learners are advised that:

(a) An appeal may not necessarily be successful. Marks can go up or down.
(b) The marks awarded are the official ‘final marks’ no further appeal is allowed.
(c) The appeal follows the standard marking process and therefore takes a number of
months to conclude all elements and receive certification.

REPEAT POLICY:
If a learner fails an assessment they must contact the Company to confirm if they wish to avail of the repeat option.

REPEAT PROCESS:

Failing an examination / skills demonstration:
The Company will endeavour to facilitate the learner on the next course or at another suitable time.

Failing an assignment / project:
Learners have the option to repeat their assignment or project. The Centre will give the learner their new assessment brief and their new submission date.

Learners will be advised that their assessment will be processed through the standard marking process including Internal Verifier, External Authenticator and Results Panel.

ILLNESS DURING AN ASSESSMENT:
A learner, who due to illness, cannot continue with an assessment which is scheduled during a classroom session (e.g., examination or skills demonstration) are afforded the opportunity to re-sit the assessment at the next available course. If however more than a month has elapsed then this rule does not apply and they will be marked on the work they have completed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In some cases a learner may need to repeat all or part of the course
Learners should contact the Company to discuss their options and the fee.
